At Fault Accidents and your Driving Record

FYI regarding Motor Vehicle Records- If you get into an accident and it is not your fault – You need to make sure it does not go on your record as an At-Fault-Accident.

People will tell you its cool, don’t worry about it, you will be going through life and want to deal with it later, you will think you can explain that to your insurance agent and they can do something about it. But only YOU can do something about it!

YOU need to follow-up with the Ohio BMV and MAKE SURE, they have it reported correctly because in the End, YOU will have to pay for the points, etc., The only thing your insurance agent can do is advise you and ‘TEMPORARILY’ dispute it. If it still comes back as “Your fault” it will go right back on your auto insurance policy and you will have to pay for it.

Do NOT trust anyone else to handle your business, and definitely do not take anyone’s word as a substitute for doing what you need to do on anything. And if it really isn’t your fault, you should try to fight it if and when possible!
