Carpenter Insurance

Carpenters can work in homes or they can be construction carpenters. The Construction Carpenter will build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials as needed to assist with various types of construction projects.

When many of us think of carpenters, we think of  as the people who come into our homes and build and install cabinets, doors, window frames, frameworks, floors or other wooden fixtures.

Carpenters, like many other professionals in the construction industry, typically need a combination of insurance policies to protect their business and assets. Here are a few types of insurance that carpenters may need:

  • General liability insurance: This type of insurance provides coverage for third-party bodily injury, property damage, and personal injury claims that may arise during carpentry work. For example, if a carpenter accidentally damages a client’s property or a member of the public is injured on a job site, general liability insurance would provide coverage for the damages or injuries.
  • Workers’ compensation insurance: If a carpenter has employees, they will need workers’ compensation insurance to provide coverage for injuries and illnesses that may occur on the job. This insurance covers medical expenses, lost wages, and other costs associated with work-related injuries or illnesses.
  • Commercial auto insurance: If a carpenter owns a vehicle used for business purposes, such as transporting tools and materials to job sites, they will need commercial auto insurance to protect against accidents and other incidents that may occur while driving the vehicle.
  • Tools and equipment insurance: Carpenters may want to consider purchasing insurance to protect their tools and equipment from theft, damage, or loss.
  • Professional liability insurance: If a carpenter provides advice or recommendations to clients, they may need professional liability insurance to protect against claims of negligence, errors, or omissions.

It’s important for carpenters to work with an experienced insurance agent or broker to identify their specific insurance needs and develop a comprehensive insurance plan to protect their business and assets.
