What is an Insurance Declarations Page?

Auto Insurance: What is a Declarations Page & Auto Insurance Basics (part 1)

You may have been asked for your auto, home, or business insurance declarations page and aren’t sure what that is.  Your declarations page is a summary of your insurance coverages and is typically no more than two pages long.  On a homeowner’s insurance policy’s declarations page you will find your dwelling coverages, personal property coverage, optional coverages, liability limits, deductibles, discounts, location information and additional interest information such as a mortgagee, premium, etc.

On your auto insurance declarations page you will find this information if you have elected to purchase these coverages:

  • Physical Damage – Comprehensive / Collision Coverage
  • Liability – bodily injury and property damage limits
  • Medical payments
  • Uninsured/underinsured motorists bodily injury limits
  • Deductibles for Comp/Collision
  • Rental Reimbursement
  • Towing and Labor
  • Discounts
  • Premium
  • Driver information
  • Vehicle information

A business declarations page will also list the business’ coverages.
